FRIDAY TRIVIA CHALLENGE--ROUND 2

Ok, the Friday trivia is actually coming out this week on Saturday morning, because I forgot to do it last night. As a result, you have until 5:00 on Monday to submit your answers to kinojay33@yahoo.com. Since most people don't tend to do the blog rounds on weekends (you crazy kids & your "social lives"!), along with the fact that this week's question is music-related, should hopefully result in a few more entries than last week's tally of....zero.

So here is the clue:

Saw you stretched out in Room 1009
with a smile on your face and a tear right in your eye.

Here's what you need to do:

1) Identify the name of the song this lyric comes from
2) Name the album the song is on
3) Name the band

And as a bonus question, in the album art for this album, there is a classic picture of the band's lead singer holding a bottle of liquor. Name the brand of the liquor & you've scored yourself a bonus point, my friend.

Remember, from now on prizes will be given out once a month to the person with the most correct answers. I will announce the prizes soon, but a $20 PurePop gift certificate will be an option every month.

GOOD LUCK!

EROWID HITS THE MAINSTREAM

Maybe it's just me who finds this interesting, but in this headline article from Yahoo News about the pros & cons of caffeine consumption, they link to a page on the Erowid website. It should be a nice change in their usual readership, with an influx of bored, hypochondriac housewives replacing the usual patrons, 15 year old kids looking for recipes for codeine extraction.

Maybe some of those housewives will start browsing the rest of the site & start exploring the wonders of DMT...the revolution begins. :)
MP3 TRADE FROM WEIRD FANS OF ANIMAL COLLECTIVE
While trolling around the Animal Collective message board, I found a post that might be of interest to some of you. It's a collection of rare and out-of-print mp3 files (of AC, but mostly other artists)--

Unfortunately, a lot of the best ones (such as the soundtrack to Stan Brakhage's "Desistfilm") were post on sites like yousendit.com close to a year ago, so they're now offline. But you should still be able to find some obscure, esoteric little goodies on there to satisfy the craving for weird sounds that lies deep in your belly. Enjoy!
