I first encountered Sam-Taylor Wood's installation video work at an exhibit at the Hirshhorn Gallery in 1999. Along with Bill Viola, her work was a huge influence on my decision to do video installation art during my college years.While they're not quite as powerful outside of their intended context, Taylor-Wood's videos still hold up very well on their own.
