THE WHITE STRIPES @ HIGHER GROUND (???)

This was part of a White Stripes management press release regarding the erroneous reporting of their North American tour:

In fact, The White Stripes have yet to confirm their North American routing as of yet. But we are happy to say that it will include all 10 provinces and 3 territories of Canada, as well as the remaining 16 states of the United States the band have yet to play. A few major markets that have been journeyed to in the past will be also be included.

As far as know, The White Stripes have never played a gig in Vermont...does this mean we might get to all put on our red shirts & white pants for a summer gig by the world's most famous faux-brother/sister act?

Same here. I wouldn't list them among my favorite bands, but I still think they'd be an incredibly fun band to see live. They're like a weird mixture of parodied homage: Mick Jagger-meets-Jimmy Page meets Dylan-meets-Mo-Tucker-meets-David Bowie-meets-The Carpenters. With a ridiculous red & white branding initiative to boot.

Quasi is another good twosome to see live. You gotta love the divorced couple who are still rocking it on the road together - especially when they get into spats on stage. I doubt they will ever come to VT though...

I could be wrong but aren't two of the members of the band Low a divorced couple as well?

I think the folks from Low are still married. And I think there is a third member also. At least there was a third member a decade ago when I saw them. Same set up as Yo La Tengo. Husband=guitar wife=drums and some third wheel playing bass.

The Handsome Family though is just a husband and wife; as are Mates of State too.

i have no idea where or when in 2001 they played. maybe as part of like sno core or some sort of tour that rolled through burlington? i was around in 01 and cant recall them coming to town.

i think the Low couple is still married. however their bass player left the band and they got a new bass player a couple of years ago.

speaking of divorced couples still playing together, Charalambides are still making music together - tom and christina carter. im trying to set up a show for them and GHQ here in june. yay!

White Stripes are too big for VT at this point.

Yes, of course, but it sounds like they're planning some kind of "Rolling Thunder"-esque marketing gimmick where they play the remaining states that they've never played in. I just want proof that they've played a show in VT--I haven't seen it yet.

White Stripes too big for Vermont? Man, I saw Tim McGraw in Vt. and he's WAY bigger than the White Stripes!
